People often ask me about MOKSHA. Since I’ve attached the word ‘Moksha’ with my name too, people ask me the meaning of it. Questions like, “What is the real meaning of it and how to achieve it and why to get it?”.
So, I would like to share some personal experiences in my journey of life. After achieving a lot in life, at a point of time, I felt that if the journey of life isn’t becoming a journey to MOKSHA, then it is not worth it, something is missing, life has no meaning. The first realization was that my body, which is a transportation medium for my soul, should be perfect, should be in great health, so that I can smoothly head on to the journey to MOKSHA. For that I adopted a healthy lifestyle combined with the most important physical exercises like Yoga, Pranayaam, Walking etc. I practise it regularly, so that I stay strong on the journey.
And, among it all, the most important aspect is the ‘mind’. It is this mind that keeps on virtually transporting us to the past and the future. So, whenever we go into the past, we get disturbed by all the bitter experiences and memories and hold on to them. This takes us into a mode of complaining, guilt, blaming, repentance etc. And when we think of the future, we are loaded with stress, tensions, worries and anxiety of the uncertainty. The past is gone and we can not change it by any chance and the future isn’t real, it hasn’t happened yet. But, we get too caught up in these past and future worries. These thoughts of our mind never let us go ahead and be free.
Not only that, even in present, we keep on crying over what we do not have, but we are not grateful to God for whatever he has given us.
So, Moksha is getting beyond all of it. Thinking beyond the past and the future and the deprivations of the present, is MOKSHA. It also means getting over our vices like Greed, Attachment, Lust, Anger, Desires etc. These vices too keep us caught in a web and don’t let us fly like a free bird. Rising up above all of these vices is MOKSHA. We also need to have a control over our emotions. We shouldn’t take little issues to heart and should learn to let it go. Talking about our soul, which is inside us, gives us direction; It tells us that our life is actually very easy and simple and we should learn how to live it fully. And for this, we must bear an attitude of service and focus on Knowledge (Gyaan) and Concentration (Dhyaan).
MOKSHA means being happy from within. If we ourselves are unhappy, we can never spread happiness. So, understand the real meaning of life, rise above the little things and be grateful to God for bringing us into this beautiful world full of love. And this is how you get MOKSHA.
